Biography

Anne Wilkinson (Ph.D., Urban Studies and Public Policy) is currently Professor and Chair of Palliative and Supportive Care and Senior Research Associate at the Centre for Nursing, Midwifery and Health Services Research, Edith Cowan University, Perth, Western Australia. Professor Wilkinson has 20+ years of public policy, research, and program management experience in health and community services delivery, palliative care, aging, and social and health service program evaluation and delivery. Professor Wilkinson is a co-author of four books, including The Common Sense Guide to Improving Palliative Care, is a how-to manual for clinical providers documenting 10 years of work in quality improvement and Improving Care at the End of Life: A Sourcebook for Clinicians and Managers (2nd Edition), an update of the initial work in clinical care at the end of life. Other recent publications include journal articles focusing on spiritual and emotional suffering in advanced chronic illness patients, medical decision-making in advanced chronic illness patients, a book chapter on the incorporation of palliative care into community disaster preparedness planning and response, and two book chapters on caregiving and advance care planning.
