Biography
Professor Manuel Oliveira Carrageta is President of the Portuguese Society of Geriatrics and Gerontology. He is a Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of Lisbon and President of the Preventive Cardiology Institute. Professor Manuel is the Chairman of the Department of Research and Postgraduate Teaching of the Hospital Garcia de Orta. He has been President of the Iberolatin American Atherosclerosis Society. He had presented more than 400 scientific papers in Congresses, made more than 500 conferences and has published over 200 scientific papers. He has been distinguished with six awards for scientific research work and was also awarded with the Prize for medical progress and its application to the elderly. Geriatrics: Director of the Geriatrics and Gerontology Annual Course of the Portuguese Society of Geriatrics and Gerontology, Professor of the Postgraduate Course on Aging Geriatrics Practice at University of Coimbra, the Geriatrics and Gerontology Course for Pharmacists, Order of Pharmacists, the International Postgraduate Course in Geriatrics at the Faculty of Medicine of Oporto. He is the Ambassador of the European Year of Active Aging and Solidarity between Generations.
