Biography
Ignat C. Petrov is a physician with specialties in Psychiatry, Gerontology and Geriatrics. His Ph thesis was on the mental health and self-evaluation of aged rural people. He has worked at the Centre of Gerontology and Geriatrics and the Psychiatric Clinic at the Medical University of Sofia. Currently he is a consultant at the Clinical Centre of Endocrinology and Gerontology at the same university. Most of his research relates to mental health in ageing and old age, including self-evaluation, depression, sources of subjective well-being in later life, cognitive ageing and dementia. He is an associated professor, corresponding member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Arts, a Member of the Council of the International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics, President of the Bulgarian Association on Ageing, Honorary Member of the Romanian Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics, etc.
